Why Love Matters - book review

Updated: Oct 21, 2019

This totally engaging second edition of Sue Gerhardt's book is a must read if you want to really understand the power of positive human relationships and why love matters. With compelling evidence from neuroscience it shows how love is the foundation of happiness, sociability and what ultimately makes us truly human in a way we can all celebrate. It also offers some core wisdom for exploring how we need to change our capitalist, consuming and technological world to make it more sustainable by focusing more on human relationships and how we should begin to build societies on "nurture capital " rather than a financial, constant growth model. We need time for relationships and attachment, love and safety are core components of our hope for the future. This book is an inspiration and also a chilling reminder of what happens when we do not love each other. Thank you Sue for such a well researched and passionate read.
